Treats for Halloween!

Today is the last day of the Paranormal Fall Fling and for the last two stops on this mammoth tour I'm over at the wonderful Hesperia Loves Books for a second day (or more correctly, Terek is over there telling readers about being vampire) and at my dear friend Talina's blog, Bookin' It Reviews. Stop over at each but be sure to enter the Paranormal Fall Fling on this last day to be eligible to win the great grand prizes. I'll be giving away a $10 gift card and a $50 gift card to Amazon, along with a huge swag pack prize tomorrow. Just click on the link above and enter to win!

It's back to work and school around these parts after Sandy roared through. My friends on the coast and everywhere Sandy took her tour of devastation are in my heart, and I pray you're safe and sound. Things can be replaced, but you and your loved ones safe is what truly matters.

Happy Samhain!

Interview with Three Vampires

The Paranormal Fall Fling is in its last days, so be sure to enter to win the fabulous grand prizes that will be given away on November 1. Today on the Fling I'm at Bitten By Paranormal Romance for their Characterfest with an interview with not one, not two, but three characters of mine:  Vasilije, Saint, and Terek, the heroes of my first three Sons of Navarus books. If you've met these three, you know it was an interesting time, to say the least, and if you haven't met them, this will give you a chance to find out a little about these three very different males.

I'm off to hunker down and ride Hurricane Sandy out today. It's already very windy here. Stay safe, my friends!

Moonlight Masquerade H0p

beach-1-3-1

Welcome to my stop on the Moonlight Masquerade Hop! Thanks to the hosts My Secret Romance blog and Day Dreaming blog! Since this is about costumes and masks and other sexy things, I figured the perfect prize would be an ebook copy of my book, Masquerade.

Here's the blurb:

Annelisa Fielding has had the blessings of wealth her entire life, thanks to her industrialist father. However, there is one thing even he can't give her: a title. So he arranges a marriage between his daughter and the Earl of Swindon, Thornton Sutcliffe. As long as his future bride is a virgin, the Earl will tolerate the marrying down because in return for taking Annelisa as his wife, her father will pay off his debts. Everyone wins, as far as the men are concerned, but Annelisa wants more out of marriage than a title and is willing to wait. But time is running out. If she doesn't find some way out of the marriage and fast, in one month she'll become Lady Annelisa Sutcliffe.

The solution to her problem? Count Nikolai Shetkolov, a diplomat in the service of the Tsar and stationed in England. Single, powerful, and sexier than any man Annelisa has ever laid eyes on, Nikolai is the perfect choice to help a young lady lose the one thing her odious future husband prizes most. But Annelisa will have to watch out or she may get be more than she bargained for with Nikolai.
I love the idea of a masquerade party, and when I began writing the book I knew I needed a way for Annelisa to be able to seduce Nikolai. Since it's set in the Victorian Period, she couldn't exactly just saunter up and tell him she wants him. So a masquerade was the perfect plan.

Here's a little of their first "meeting" at the party:

He stood alone near the entrance to the ballroom, almost as if he were waiting for someone. All she had to do was make him interested in her and seduce him into joining her in some secluded spot nearby. Taking another deep breath, Annelisa willed away the butterflies in her stomach and reminded herself she had to succeed if she wanted to keep her freedom.
In her most alluring voice, she began. “Monsieur?”
He turned toward her and immediately she registered that he appeared different this night.
“Madame?”
“Mademoiselle, monsieur.”
“Pardon moi, mademoiselle.”
Annelisa was impressed by his accent. While his harsher Russian accent tinged his speech when he spoke English, it was absent as he spoke French.
“No need to apologize, sir,” she answered in a heavy French accent.
“You speak English?” he asked, his Russian accent obvious once again.
“Of course! We are in England.”
As they spoke, she studied his face for any sign he was interested. In just a short time, she saw she’d piqued his interest.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I am Count Nikolai Shetkolov, diplomat for Tsar Alexander II.”
Annelisa extended her gloved hand, and he bowed to place a kiss on the back of it.
“And who are you, mademoiselle?”
“I am the goddess Aphrodite, of course!” she teased.
Nikolai smiled. “No, I meant what is your name.”
Annelisa had decided to use the name of a woman her governess had told her about—a French woman she’d known when she was a child.
“Violet Moceanu.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Moceanu.”
“Are you enjoying yourself, Count? You don’t dance?”
Annelisa watched him change as a stiffness overcame him.
“Not particularly well, my lady, but I will make an exception for you.”
Behind her mask, Annelisa beamed. This was going to be even easier than she’d hoped.
“Perhaps later. For now, I prefer to enjoy your company this way.”
She watched as relief washed over him and his body relaxed. “I think I’d like to take a walk outside for some fresh air. Would you care to join me?”
“Absolutely, Miss Moceanu.”
Taking her arm in his, he guided her through the library to the outside. As they strolled around the well-manicured Italian gardens famous to the Stewart mansion, they made conversation while Annelisa’s eyes scanned the area for the place she’d bring her plan to fruition.
Just the way he spoke to her as if she were an intelligent being impressed her. She’d made a good choice in Nikolai, but as they continued to walk the mansion’s grounds, she worried he might be a little too respectful to do what she needed him to do.
Subtly, she began stroking his arm with her free hand and then slid her gloved fingers inside his sleeve to touch his wrist. Even through the fabric, she felt the heat of his skin and sensed his pulse quicken as they continued their conversation.
She was sure he was interested. Now if she could induce him to make a move, she’d willingly oblige him and achieve her goal.
Stopping behind a large hedge out of the view of the other partygoers, she looked up at him and moistened her lips. Fear thrummed in her veins as she waited for him to act on her signals. What if he was too honorable to help her complete her plan? For a long moment, she wondered if she would fail as the thought of marrying Thornton Sutcliffe made her heart sink.
Nikolai touched her mask and she quickly grabbed his hand to stop him.
“No.”
“How am I to give you what you’ve been telling me you want if I can’t see your face?”
“The mask must stay.”
Despite his obvious confusion, her requirement didn’t deter him. Gently, he pressed his lips to hers and kissed her. Annelisa’s heart pounded against her chest at the thought that this was her first real kiss. Suddenly, fear raced through her. Was she doing it correctly? Would he know she was inexperienced in this, and therefore, in what she hoped would follow and end their tryst prematurely?

Masquerade is one of my favorite stories. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. So how do you enter? Easy. :)  Just fill out the Rafflecopter with all the entries you choose to do--the more you do, the better your chance of winning. Wicked After Dark

Welcome to my stop on the Wicked After Dark Giveaway Hop! Thanks to the hosts Nikki at Close Encounters with the Night Kind and fellow author Natasha Blackthorne for setting this sexy blog hop up!

Who doesn't like the thought of being wicked? C'mon. You know you do. We spend all our days stuck in the house, taking care of our kids, or in some day job, but when the sun goes down, don't you just want to do something wild and wicked?

Since I tend to spend my time writing vampires, I at least get to live vicariously through them and their delicious wickedness. With that spirit in mind, I'm giving away an ebook copy of the second book in my Sons of Navarus series, Blood Betrayed. If you've read Book #1 (which you should before reading the second book in the series), you know the Sons can be very noble and wonderful, but each one has a darkness about him that's just oh so sexy. Book #2's hero, Saint, is dark and brooding and definitely wicked in his own way. Here's a taste of him (not appropriate for work!):

"Solenne," he said almost in a whisper to not startle her, but it didn't work. She spun around with her arms covering her full breasts that strained against the thin fabric of her tank top, but she couldn't cover the bruises along her collarbone and across her shoulders.
Obviously inflicted that night, their redness had begun to fade to a deep purple where fingers had pressed roughly into her tender skin. Solenne saw the look of shock he didn't try to hide from his eyes and scrambled to grab a shirt from the back of a nearby chair.
"What is this?"
"Nothing. Just leave it be."
Saint took the shirt from her hand and threw it on the bed. "No." Dipping his head, he softly pressed his lips to the darkest bruise on her left shoulder. Fucking Archon!
Gingerly, he ran his fingers over her skin, gently touching each bruise before raising his head to look at her.  "Solenne, I promise you here and now I'm going to kill the one who did this. I'll drain him drop by drop until he begs for the release a stake will bring."
Eyes wide with tears looked up at him, their blue color pale and watery. "Saint, don't touch me like this if you don't mean it."
He meant it. He'd meant it in every dream he'd had of finally returning to her. Taking her face in his hands, he kissed her long and deep, drinking in the delicious taste of the lips he'd missed for so long.
God, he'd yearned to once again feel the touch of her skin next to his! Year upon year of lonely nights interrupted only by pale replacements ebbed from his memory now as his hands once again learned of the woman he'd always loved.
Solenne molded to him, setting his senses ablaze. His body craved to join with her, to finally reclaim that piece of his heart lost so painfully nearly a century ago. He slid his hands under her shirt to her breasts and worshipped them—their fullness in his palms, their deep pink tips pebbled from desire that begged for his mouth's attention.
"Come."
Taking her hand, he led her to the shower. "Don't move." A quick twist of the faucet handle and warm water streamed down from the showerhead.
"Do I look like I need a shower?" she asked in a teasing tone as he slipped the tank top over her head.
Saint looked down at her sexy mouth as he slid his thumbs under the waist of her shorts. "Always fighting me."
Crouching in front of her, he slid the shorts down her legs and off her feet. Eye level with her pussy, he looked up and licked his lips. "I hope you don't plan on fighting me now."
He didn't wait for a reply before he drew his finger up her wet slit. Solenne's eyebrows knitted and she bit her lip. Her eyes slowly closed and tiny moans filled his ears.
"Don't close your eyes. Watch me."
Solenne obeyed and her eyes grew wide as he slid his thumbs through her delicate folds to open her up, unveiling to his eager eyes her excited clit. Saint inched closer to her soft skin and whispered against her, "I've waited so long for this."

Is it hot in here? Whew...okay, let's get down to the business of the giveaway. Do as many of the entries in the Rafflecopter, making sure you leave a comment below with your email address. The giveaway is open internationally, so everyone can enter. Good luck, and enjoy hopping around and being naughty!

My Hero Interviews Me

Today's stop on the Paranormal Fall Fling didn't post, so I'm posting it right here on my blog. Today's the last day to enter for the weekly prize, a Sons of Navarus travel mug, so be sure to read at the end of the post how to get your name in the running!

For a change today, I'm going to be interviewed by one of my characters instead of interviewing him. Let's hope Terek goes easy on me.

Terek: (winks) So I'm the first to do this with you, Gabrielle?

Gabrielle:  You are. If it goes well, maybe this will be a trend.

Terek:  I hope you don't mind, but I asked Ilona and a few of the Sons for questions to ask you, so they'll be thrown in there too. Ready?

Gabrielle:  You don't give a woman much of a chance, do you?

Terek:  (smiles) You know me too well. Shall we begin?

Gabrielle: (nervously) Okay.

Terek:  Let's begin with why you chose to tell our story.

Gabrielle:  That's an easy one. I met Vasilije and it only took about five minutes of knowing him that I wanted to find out more.

Terek: (raises one eyebrow) I see you're a Vasilije woman? Hmmm...

Gabrielle: (blushes) I wouldn't say that. You know I love all of you.

Terek: Something tells me Vasilije knew the answer to that question when he told me to ask it. Onto the next one. This is from Ilona. How do you determine what stays in the story and what is left out?

Gabrielle: You all tell me your stories, and I have to decide what will be good for readers to get the overall idea of the series. For example, I decided to not include anything about when you were turned by Amir in Blood Spirit because it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story. I have the information and may include it in the future, but for Blood Spirit it just wasn't right.

Terek: Interesting. Maybe you can use that for the free short stories you've begun for the series.

Gabrielle:  I was thinking the same thing. Great minds think alike.

Terek: They do. Here's a question I've had since meeting you. What makes you love vampires like us?

Gabrielle: (smiles)  How could I not love you guys?  You're sexy, smart, and brave, and each one of you is different. All together, the eight of you represent a man for every taste. But I love the way you're all so passionate about your lives and the war with the Archons. I respect that.

Terek:  Now for a serious question. Do the readers know you don't know how the civil war ends?

Gabrielle:  (chuckles) I think they do now. But seriously, I think they enjoy finding out about not only the romances but the fight between the Sons and the Archons. I know I do.

Terek:  Here's one last question: what should readers be looking forward to in the future with your series on us?

Gabrielle: Your story, Blood Spirit, is out now, and I'll be writing short stories related to all of you in the future. A short with Vasilije and Sasa is scheduled for release on my website and blog in early October, and tentatively I've planned to let readers know more about Saint and Solenne's early days and a little background on Thane before the end of this year, assuming nothing comes up. And then Ramiel's book, Blood Prophecy, will come next, hopefully by the beginning of 2013.

Terek:  Sounds good. So how was your first interview with one of us?

Gabrielle:  Pretty good, but I know you. You're just that kind of guy. Now Vasilije or Ramiel? This would have been a much different experience with them. Might have involved biting.

Terek: (winks) Ah, I see. We could have done it that way too.

Here's a taste of Terek in Blood Spirit (Sons of Navarus #3):

Terek held his wrist to her lips and waited for a sign that he hadn't been too late. Seconds grew to minutes but finally she opened her eyes and looked up at him in the darkness. As a new vampire, she wouldn't be able to see him, but he saw her.
"Remain still."
Reaching for a match, he lit a candle on the nightstand next to the bed. In the pale light, he was struck by the frightened look on her face, and he reached out to tenderly caress her cheek, as any good sire would for one of his vampires.
"Where am I?" she asked as she flinched from his touch.
"My home. What's your name?"
"Am I still in Cocentaina?" she asked as she sat up quickly, immediately falling back onto the bed.
"Remain still. You're not ready to move yet. What's your name?"
For the second time, she didn't answer his question, and Terek wondered if she could be in shock from the attack. He didn't want to upset her, but he needed to know her name. Carefully, he listened to her thoughts but heard nothing.
Finally, she whispered, "Ilona."
"Ilona, I'm Terek. Do you remember what happened?"
Brown eyes stared up at him, wide with fear as tears welled up in them. "No...yes..." Her hand reached for her neck. "What did you do to me?"
She attempted to roll away from him, but Terek held her fast to the bed. Eyes that had just been so full of fear flashed rage at him. "Let go of me! What have you done to me?"
Never before had one of his vampires looked at him as if he were a villain. "I've done nothing to harm you. You asked for my help, and I gave it willingly."
"You've made me a monster."
"No, not a monster. Vampire."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as Ilona sobbed uncontrollably. "Vampire! No!"
Terek brought his wrist to his mouth and pierced his skin. Holding his arm near her mouth, he watched her anger turn again to horror. "Ilona, take from me. This is who you are."
Closing her eyes, she shook her head.
"I may not have chosen you, but I'm your sire now. I won't let anything or anyone harm you, Ilona. I promise."

I'll be choosing the final weekly prize winner tonight at 9 pm, so be sure to comment on the Paranormal Fall Fling page to be entered. And be sure to fill out the Rafflecopter for your chances at winning the grand prizes I'll be choosing on November 1. Good luck!

#PNR Friday-More #Sexy Men

It's another Friday, so that means it's PNR Friday at my blog. Today I figured I'd keep with the sexy man theme I did last week since it was so popular. But first, I'm over at fellow author Natasha Blackthorne's blog today with a Paranormal Fall Fling post, so stop over and show some love.

And yours truly is featured in USA Today's Happily Ever After blog's series on keeper books with a shout out to one of my all-time favorite paranormal romance authors, Marie Treanor. Most of the faves by my fellow authors seem to be historicals, but stop over and check out what others say are books they will always love.

Okay, onto the promised sexy men. In this case, it's one man. Henry Cavill. I'm showing him today because I can't think of a more perfect man to show as who inspires Thane from the Sons of Navarus series. I have to admit that he hasn't always been the inspiration, but a while back for a guest post I had to name someone who could play Thane in a Sons movie. I was at a total loss until my editor mentioned Henry Cavill. She said he'd be perfect, and she was right. Mmmmm....

Enjoy the pics and remember to enter the Paranormal Fall Fling for a chance to win the last weekly prize, the Sons of Navarus travel mug, and the grand prizes of Amazon gift cards ($10 and $50) and swag.

Happy Friday everyone!

Author Rae McCartney Visits

Welcome today to a new author to me, Rae McCartney, who's here to talk about her new book, Lovers Undercover: Devoted.

Logan McGregor is a music superstar. . .he’s also a man of many talents. Hidden talents.  Some that he’s been forced to reveal and use. Ones that he wished would have stayed hidden.

Scarlett Bouvier is not only his lover, she’s his business partner and Logan would do anything to protect her and keep her out of harm’s way. But Scarlett is stubborn and does not take no for an answer. A savvy and successful businesswoman in her own right, Scarlett is a force to be reckoned with – both in the boardroom and the bedroom.

But someone from Scarlett’s past has revealed themselves and must be stopped. Someone who uses the world of sex clubs and BDSM as a front to their own dark and illegal enterprise. And Logan and Scarlett are the only two who can successfully infiltrate and help put an end to the madness.

Travel with the pair as they find themselves in the elite world of Monte Carlo, the exclusive clubs of Paris to Las Vegas as they chase down a sinister figure, and Logan introduces Scarlett to a world she’s only read about.

Excerpt:

I trailed a nail down his bicep. “I was just wondering if you had anything you had to do today or if today is just for us. You were rather vague last evening when we talked.”

“No way! No f-in’ way in f-in’ hell am I going to partake if that is what they want me to do. No way!”
Logan lay on his back, his muscular forearm now over his eyes while he listened to my rant. He’d known all along that my reaction would be exactly what he was hearing. I was also sure it was his job to convince me otherwise.
“Logan, are you listening to me?” I pushed his arm away from his face. “There is no way I’m going to be part of some of the kinky crap you’re suggesting.”
“Well love, if you refuse the agency will be forced to place an active, experienced female agent with me.” I could feel his glare as he watched my reaction closely.
“So what you’re telling me is…if I don’t learn this lifestyle and go undercover with you where we’ll partake in this crap, you’ll go undercover anyway. Only you’ll go with a female agent who is already trained in this stuff. Did I leave anything out?” I sat abruptly upright on the bed and swung my legs over the side. I was pissed.
Angry over the entire situation.
“No, you didn’t leave anything out, and yes that’s exactly what’s going to happen if you decide you’d rather not participate.”
I nervously paced the bedroom. My head was spinning and had a good idea what may come next.
“Tell me something Logan. You obviously trained for this during the time you were away. I can’t imagine you having to re-learn how to handle weapons for six weeks. So you want to tell me about this part of your training or should I just leave it up to my imagination?”
“Scarlett, you don’t know anything about this lifestyle so don’t try and imagine what is entailed. And yes, I trained with an experienced female as well as an experienced Dom.”
I felt sure he neglected to mention the fact that he had dabbled in the lifestyle prior to meeting me. I had done my research and it had been long before we ever met. It had evidently been a way for him to decompress after his missions with the SAS.

BTS Tours Presents Book of Death

Title:  Book of Death
Author: S. Evan Townsend
Publisher:   World Castle Publishing
Length:  266 pages
Sub-Genres: Vampires, Paranormal Entities

BLURB:

They live among us. We know they are there. No government can control them; no authority can stop them. Some are evil. Some are good. All are powerful. They inhabit our myths and fairy tales. But what if they were real, the witches, wizards, and fairy godmothers? What if they were called "adepts" and were organized into guilds for mutual protection and benefit? And what if some of them discovered a power that other adepts could not match.

During the turbulent 1960s, when American adept Peter Branton agrees to go to Transylvania for the CIA, he suspects it's not about ball bearings as he was told. What he finds is a plot that could kill millions of people and plunge the world into eternal tyranny and bloodshed. Branton doesn't know it, but he's about to face the adept guilds' worst nightmare: practicing necromancers with a taste for human blood.

EXCERPT :

I'd never seen this type of meta before. At least I assumed that's what it was, as the wooden man inexorably walked toward me with a creak of moving wood, like tree branches in a heavy wind. It was raising its arms for another blow so I stepped back and shot an airbolt at it. I heard wood crack, but that didn't stop it. It swung again and its wooden fist pounded into my face, knocking me down and back on the sidewalk. Somewhere I heard screams and yells. A guy sitting on the sidewalk, his back to a storefront, muttered, "Wow, bad trip, man."
The Indian was bending over, its face expressionless except for the painted-on peace sign as it seemed to prepare for another attack. I shot fire at it, assuming old dry wood would ignite easily, and it did: the hippie dress went up in flames, and now the monster was a burning mass, still attacking me. It smacked me again with a flaming arm and I suffered from both the impact and the burns. Nearly screaming, I scrambled away on hands and knees. I don't think I'd ever been that scared. Still it came, oblivious to the fact it was on fire.
A motorcycle cop I hadn't noticed jumped off his bike, pulled his service revolver, and shot it into the Indian with six cracks of bullets being fired. It had no effect other than sending burning splinters of wood flying. The cop suddenly looked frightened, and was gripping his billy club but taking no further action.
People were screaming loudly now. I looked around, looking for an escape. If I could teleport away I might escape, but I could see no clear place to teleport to. Briefly I wondered what happened to Ernestine and if she were safe. I didn't sense the presence of another adept, but I didn't really have the ability to be quiet enough to do so. I just hoped she was okay.
The burning Indian smacked me again, hard, in the chest and I felt as if my feet left the ground as I was knocked into a car's side. I heard and felt sheet metal crumple and knew I'd hit the car hard. My vision was going gray. But I realized my shirt was on fire and that kept me from passing out; if I passed out I was probably dead. I pulled water from the air to douse the fire, but this took time and the Indian was on me again, even though it was moving very slowly.
I wondered if I'd survive until the wooden Indian had been consumed by the flames. It hit me again, knocking me to the sidewalk. There was an unpleasant smell and I realized my hair was burning. I used my bare hand to pat out the flames. This gave the Indian time to hit me again, hard. It almost felt as if I flew through the air and was slapped painfully to the sidewalk, the Indian still lumbering toward me.
In desperation I shot another airbolt at it. It must have been on the verge of falling apart because that hit blew it into flaming pieces that scattered over the street and also hit me, burning my skin or singeing my clothes. But it was no longer attacking.

#WIP Wednesday and 2 Fall Fling Stops

Actually, that title is backwards, but no matter. I'm over at GraveTells today talking about The Thorn Birds and its influence on Blood Spirit (yeah, it's an oldie that's really even too old for me, but it's amazing the things you remember from being a kid) and at fellow author Malia Mallory's blog with an excerpt from Blood Spirit. I hope you'll stop over and check them out after you enter to win the weekly and grand prizes in the Paranormal Fall Fling. Remember that you can earn points every day by posting on FB and tweeting about the giveaway.

As for the #WIP this Wednesday, I can report that Ramiel and Thane are experiencing a lot more than they ever expected as they travel to Italy to find the other two vampires who are like them and can help with the Prophecy of Idolas. To give you a little visual aid with Thane, here's his romance trading card. (I haven't had his made up yet, so it's just a proof for now.)

Yummy!

And if you're looking for my newest story about the Sons of Navarus, stop over at the Free Reads page on my website for The Deepest Cut, a short about Vasilije and Sasa after their "situation" with Thane in Blood Spirit.

Whew! I'm tired already. Time for me to get ready to go to the day job. Have a great one!

Hot in Handcuffs G!veaway H0p

Welcome to my stop on the Hot in Handcuffs Giveaway Hop! Yeah, we're liking the rough stuff on this one. ;) Not too rough, though, so don't worry. It's all good. And be sure to read about how to enter my month-long giveaway that's going on right now at the end of the post!

To celebrate the racy stuff, I'm giving away an ebook copy of my BDSM erotic romance, Love's Master, set in Victorian England. While I'm usually a paranormal romance author, I have been known to write a historical from time to time, but I like to add some heat to history. Here's a taste of the story to whet your appetite:

Standing up, he kissed her lips softly and quietly announced, “I want to see what you are under this pretty blue dress.”
He saw her stiffen in fear and whispered, “I would never hurt you, Lily. Trust me.”
“I do,” she said softly.
Kadar made swift work of her dress and undergarments and in seconds Lily stood before him naked. His breath caught in his chest, and he had to restrain himself from opening his trousers and pulling her down on his lap to bury himself as deeply as possible inside her.
Astonished by her beauty, he muttered “lovely” as he softly kissed her, explaining, “I’m going to bind your wrists together. Hold your arms out in front of you.”
Taking the ropes from her, he expertly wrapped them around her wrists, making sure she wasn’t hurt. Restrained, she was forbidden from holding him.
Slowly, he lowered himself to sit on the edge of the couch and pulled her to him. Unable to hold back any longer, he took a nipple in his mouth and gently sucked, feeling the tender skin harden into a peaked point against the flick of his tongue.
Pulling away, he looked up into her face now full of desire. “Beautiful Lily.”
He moved to the other one and began giving his attention to it, eliciting a soft moan from her. Just as with the other nipple, it grew hard in his mouth and he tenderly fastened his teeth to bite down, knowing he had to take care not to frighten her.
Cupping her full breast, he latched on and softly bit her nipple as he gently squeezed the supple skin around it.
“Ow!”
Looking up, he saw a frown on her face. “What did you say?”
“That hurt, Kadar.”
He slowly stood and stroked her face. “You told me you wanted to submit to me, Lily. Do you?”
Nodding, she bit her lower lip nervously, and he knew she feared she’d done something to displease him.
“It’s all right. But you will have to be punished now.”
Instantly, he saw a look of terror cross her features. How wide her beautiful green eyes must have been when she heard she was to be punished!
“Please, no, Kadar.”
Cradling her face in his hands, he felt emotion tug at him. Most of the time when he announced to a woman that he intended to punish her, he had to fight to ensure he was seated before they flung themselves across his lap. Lily simply stood trembling in front of him.
“I promise it won’t hurt for long, love.”

Writing Strong #PNR Heroines

I'm over at Jennifer James' blog today talking about strong heroines in my Sons series. I love writing a strong woman, but often my idea of strong is a bit different from other people's. I don't need the female lead to be constantly arguing and giving the hero a hard time. I know some like that, but those heroines irritate me. To me, strength can be far more subtle and is often very effective if it isn't constantly in the hero's face.

Stop over and check out what I mean, but remember to enter the Paranormal Fall Fling before you go. We're into the third week, so there's a new weekly prize:  a signed paperback copy of Blood Avenged. And the grand prize giveaway will be chosen at the end of the month, so there's time to get your points in. Remember that each day you post on FB or tweet, you can get extra points, so don't miss out!

Have a great one!

The Fling: An Interview and A Sexy New Read

Happy Monday everyone! I'm beginning the third week of the Paranormal Fall Fling today with lots of great stuff going on. First, I'll be picking a winner for Week Two's giveaway, the Sons of Navarus swag pack, tonight, so if you haven't entered yet, be sure to head on over to Fling central and get your comment in. While you're there, be sure to complete the Rafflecopter entries for the grand prizes.

Today I'm at Fictional Candy with an interview with the fantastic Liz who's the blogger in charge of that terrific blog. Stop over for some juicy details, including who I would cast as the Sons of Navarus. Thanks to my street team, the Goddesses, for help with those delicious choices!

And speaking of the Sons, here are two big and FREE announcements:  First, Vampire Dreams Revamped is finally free at Amazon, so if you haven't read the official prequel to the Sons series, grab it free at Amazon now.

And second, my newest free read is up at my website. The Deepest Cut features Vasilije and Sasa from Blood Avenged, so stop over and give it a read. It's a very emotionally raw short, but it gives readers a little more about the couple.

Finally, happy Columbus Day to all!  I'm green with envy if you have the day off from work, and if you don't. I feel your pain. My university doesn't appreciate good old Chris as much as I think they should, so I'm heading to the salt mine today.

Have a great one!

Author Tracey H. Kitts-Bitten #PNR

A wonderful, warm welcome to fellow author Tracey H. Kitts, who's here to talk about her newest book, Bitten.

Why vampires and do they have to be naked?
By
Tracey H. Kitts

A lot of people (relatives in particular) have asked me why I write so much about vampires. I write werewolves too, but vamps seem to draw the most attention. At least, it gets the most questions. The truth is, I write what I like. When I was in school I read every book that had anything to do with vampires. Anything I could get my hands on that had vampires in it, I read it so thoroughly it could be considered studying. I also wrote a few short and semi-erotic stories about werewolves just for fun. Of course, they weren’t up to par with what is considered erotica now, but it was pretty sexy to me and my friends.

I always knew that I wanted to write professionally some day. It wasn’t something that just came to me out of the blue or something I did on a whim. Everything I have ever done in my life I have viewed as “good writing material.” I knew that each experience, whether it was a job or a relationship that went wrong, would somehow end up in my books. In the case of bad relationships, it could be considered therapy. Ha. Ha. Of course, names have been changed to protect the guilty, but there are a few of those along the way.

Since I always knew I wanted to write and I have always been drawn to vampires, it seemed only logical to me that’s what I’d write about. The other question I get even more often than, “Why vampires?” is “Why sex?”

The short answer: Why not?

Now, for something more in depth:  I love science fiction, but find it grossly lacking in sex. Ha. Seriously, I enjoy a good story but what I also enjoy is a good romance. I used to read the really old romances, the ones you could find at garage sales and such. So, they were really outdated and for my tastes, too … sweet. I wanted a heroine who could kick ass and take names. I wanted someone I could identify with. Someone who wasn’t “pure as the driven snow,” and all that crap. I wanted someone real.

Of course, I also wanted a hero who was sexy beyond imagination. I don’t want the guy next door.

Let’s face it, unless Hugh Jackman lives next door, none of us are really interested in normal guys, are we?

I also have a deep love of fantasy. So, you take all that, mix it together (shaken, not stirred) and you get paranormal romance. Paranormal romance is really an adventure for women. We just happen to find romance to be part of the adventure.

I write what I like to read. Why would I try to sell something to someone if I didn’t even like it myself? That’s ridiculous. I love vampires and if we get them alone in the story, someone better tell me what they look like naked! I don’t know about you, but I’d feel cheated otherwise. Of course, I’m okay with waiting for such a moment (like in the case of a series, which I enjoy writing). But once we get there, I want details. Ha. Ha.

The last and probably best answer I could give is this: Writing is wish fulfillment and so is reading.

Who hasn’t fantasized about living forever with some gorgeous hunk? Tall, dark and immortal sounds pretty darn good to me. To never grow old, never get sick and die. And let us not forget, eternal love.

I think these are all pretty strong fantasies that most people can identify with, even if they don’t get into the whole, “Bite me,” thing.

Unfortunately, in the area where I live most people just see it as macabre. For the rest of the fang baitout there (like myself), please check out my latest release. LOL For everyone else, I do hope we can move beyond that some day.

My latest release is Bitten and it’s available at Amazon.
